U.S. Army and Infantry Birthday
Flag Day Observance

Dear Members and Supporters,

Today marks the U.S. Army’s 248th birthday of standing watch over this great Republic.  The Continental Congress authorized enlistment of expert riflemen to the united American colonies for one year on this date in 1775.

Today also marks the 248th birthday of the U.S. Army Infantry, the “First” authorized Branch.

Flag Day is time set aside to honor the Nation’s Colors and the role the flag has played in our history.  The first year of the commemoration was 1877, 146 years ago.

I am a proud American who raises the Stars and Stripes everyday in honor of our founding and the high ideals we hold dear for all Americans. Please join me in observing and celebrating this historic day!

I am the Infantry! Follow Me!
